The time in which we live has been called by many names …

Many years ago a philosopher suggested a name that never took hold. Yet, the name had more than a kernel of truth to support it. “We should call it Îthe Age of yes and no,’ he wrote. “This is the Age of equivocation,” he continued. “The answer we get to almost every important decision is both Îyes’ and Îno.’ The attitude that emerges toward every important decision is both affirmative and negative.”

But to whatever extent we are living in a kind of ambivalent world, we must remember that God said “Yes!” to man before man ever had a chance to say “No!” to Him. And no matter how often we reject Him, there is always an affirming “Yes,” offering us redemption.

For the Lord Jesus it is always “yes.” …

In the Temple, at twelve years of age it was “Yes, I must be about My Father’s business.”

In the desert…
