Good morning girls and boys.Today is the very first day of the year 2009, and I want to wish each and every one of you a very Happy New year!

Boys and girls did you know the celebration of the New Year is the oldest of all holidays? It was first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. In our country, there are many different customs observed in celebration of the New Year like having big parties, banging pots and pans at midnight and even eating certain foods. Perhaps the most popular custom of all is making a New Year’s Resolution. What does that word, resolution mean, girls and boys? It means that we have decided to do something — that we are “resolved” to make a change in the way we will live our lives in the coming New Year.
