Isaiah 62:1-5; Psalms 96:1-3,7-10; I Corinthians 12:4-11; John 2:1-11

In front of a rural Church, there was a big sign on which the pastor regularly posted the sermon titles for the next two Sundays. During one week the sign read as follows:

March 1 – “Jesus Walks On Water”
March 8 – “Searching For Jesus”

That’s why we’re here, isn’t it? We’re searching for Jesus. We’re searching for Jesus the miracle worker — who can walk on water, heal the sick, change water into wine, raise the dead. We’re searching for the Jesus who can work miracles in our lives — transforming despair into hope, and the daily little deaths we endure into new life.

The New Testament writers recorded Jesus’ miracles as signs that to believe in Him is to live in hope and expectation. In today’s Gospel Episode at the wedding feast at Cana, the Mother Mary confidently, hopefully, expectantly, came to her Son and told Him, “They have no wine” (Jn.2:3).
