There is the amusing story of a man who had an inordinate liking for the color yellow. Everything around him had to be yellow: the outside of his house was painted yellow. Everything inside was yellow, too: the carpets, the walls, the ceilings, the curtains, the bedspreads, the kitchen appliances — all were yellow. Even his pajamas were yellow. Then one day the man became ill with jaundice. The doctor came to the house and went into the bedroom to examine the patient. When the doctor came out, the man’s wife asked, “How is he?” “I don’t know,” said the doctor, “I can’t find him.”

In today’s Gospel Lesson, we find Jesus being harshly criticized by the religious leaders who are saying “If it be true that this Jesus speaks for God, as He claims, He wouldn’t act this way. This man receives sinners. This man sits down at table and eats with sinners. Instead of scorning them, He comforts them. Instead of rejecting them…
