The next time you have several hours to waste on one of those not-so-useful Internet searches, try entering “daily averages.” Instantly, you’ll have at your fingertips everything from the current per-person daily caloric intake to continuously updated weather stats. Here are just a few examples: Approximately 6,200 marriage ceremonies were conducted in the U.S. yesterday. Unfortunately, divorce rates are still high averaging 2,400 per day. An ordinary dairy cow will produce 70 pounds of milk daily — enough to fill 128 glasses — and on average, Americans will drink only about a quarter cup per person. The United States Post Office will process 554 million mail pieces tomorrow, which works out to a little less than two letters per person, per day. And by the time Major League Baseball’s opening day comes back around, fans at Yankee stadium will consume approximately 21,000 hot dogs (sorry, I didn’t have time to find how much mustard they will use)!
