When it comes to exotic dinner table delicacies — especially meats — when someone asks, “what does that taste like?” the predicable answer is, chicken! I am told that not only do frog’s legs taste like chicken, but so does squab, turtle, alligator, quail, rabbit and rattlesnake — to name just a few. And now, thanks to some enterprising food techs, we can add to that list . . . fingernails! That’s right. According to a recent news item in the industry journal Adweek, “food technologists at McCormick, the spice company that provides Kentucky Fried Chicken’s secret mix of 11 herbs and spices,” were tasked with creating an edible nail polish. According to the report, “the nail polish flavors are sourced from natural ingredients and based on the brand’s two favorite recipes — Original and Hot & Spicy.”
So, yes, fingernails can taste like chicken — at least, the kind KFC sells.
