A mother in Arizona tried to teach her daughter the meaning of “proportionate giving”. She took ten pennies from her daughter’s bank and laid them in a row. The mother said, “There are your ten pennies.” Then she put one penny aside and said, “This is for God.” The young girl looked at the nine pennies, then, glancing at the one lonely penny, she said, “Poor God!”
