(“Therefore my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” (I Cor 15:58.)

Nineteenth Century author Charles Kingsley suggested that we should “Thank God every morning when we get out of bed because we have something to do that day. In spite of our reluctance — whether we like it or not — being required to work, and doing so to the best of our ability, will engender in us self-control, diligence, contentment, and a hundred other benefits which we would otherwise never know.”

Try applying this approach to your life’s work. A recent best-selling author explained his joy in tackling the repair of a cracked plaster wall in his child’s bedroom. Like most homeowners with little experience, one might dread taking on such a daunting project. But this author suggests calling upon a fantasy to make the job at hand an adventure.
