Love | Divine Presence | Joy

“Think of the love the Father has lavished on us” (I John 3:1).

A decade or so ago, the rock singer, Peter Frampton, recorded a song called “Wind of
Change” in which he sings these lyrics:

You know that I live a lie, Fakin’ my way through.
Sapphires and diamonds aren’t enough to buy happiness. They’re just for lookin’.

Love comes close to wrecking all you have to give
God knows there is so much to give!

It’s easy to get caught up in living a lie: faking our way through life, until we discover the truth that nothing — not even sapphires or diamonds can buy happiness. And — as Jesus showed us — love does come close to wrecking all, for love is vulnerable. But…if it is grounded in the power and strength of the God of Jesus, there comes a Presence — a Divine Presence — that sustains us and inspires us. And it’s worth the risk.
