WHAT ARE THEY FIGHTING FOR?
The tragic situation in Bosnia — in which United States Secretary of Commerce Ron Brown and other peacemakers have given their lives — makes even less sense in light of the following description by P.J. O’Rourke: I drove to Bihac’ in the former Yugoslavia with a Croatian translator, Kadi, who pretended to be Serbian when we were stopped by Serbian solders. It was easy for Kadi to pretend to be Serbian because Serbs and Croats are so much alike that the only way they can tell each other apart is by religion. And most of them aren’t religious. So the difference between Serbs and Croats is that the Serbs don’t go to Eastern Orthodox services and the Croats don’t celebrate Mass. And the difference between Serbs and Muslims is that five times a day the Muslims don’t pray to Mecca. By P.J. O’Rourke from All The Trouble in the World
