MOTIVES & ACTIONS
God is also very concerned about our motives. The Scriptures teach that what we are is far more important to God than where we are; why we do something, more than what we do. Motives can be everything. We all know it is good to contribute to the church, but if–like the Pharisees-we drop our huge wad of bills into the plate so that people think we’re big-time givers, we are out of God’s moral will. Likewise, it’s marvelous to be a person of prayer, but if we pray so that folks will be impressed with our tone of voice and choice of words, we’ve missed God’s will. Motive is just as important as action. From Decision Making by the Book, by Haddon Robinson, pg. 45
