NEED THE HAND RAILS
When the magnificent passenger ship the Queen Mary was built, its owners assumed it would be so stable that it would not require hand rails to steady the passengers in rough seas. After just a few weeks of service, the ship was returned to port and fitted with over twenty miles of hand railings. The ship pitched so much in rough seas that on one stairway used by third class passengers, people were seriously injured and even killed as they were thrown straight down the stairs. The sailing may be rough. Allowing for extra safety is more effective than assuming that all will be well. If the chance of disaster is there, do not court it.
