DEATH WITHOUT GOD
One of the most disturbing deaths I have witnessed was the death of a man who for years had spurned every mention of Christ or the gospel. He spent the last days of his life in a hospital room, clinging desperately to every tenuous thread of physical life. One day I felt burdened by the Lord to talk to the man once more. When I arrived at the hospital, his room was crowded with family members. His daughter (who was a believer) whispered that the doctor had given her father only hours to live. I leaned over the bed and said, “I’ve come to ask you again to believe on the Lord Jesus and to be saved by his grace.” Before five words were out of my mouth, the man began to shake his head back and forth.
