SIGN OF FORGIVEN
During an adult Bible study, the teacher asked a woman how she perceived the church. The woman said that she thought of the church as a hospital for sinners and that we are all sinners. At this, a rude and obnoxious man stood to his feet and, with a nasty, sarcastic voice argued that if we had two kinds of signs–one that said “I am a sinner.” and the other that said “I am not a sinner.” and distributed the signs to all who entered the church, no one would take the sign that said “I am a sinner.” Another person in the class heard the tirade of this rude man and offered a solution: “Perhaps we should offer a third sign that says, FORGIVEN.” Adapted from an actual account which took place in a small Texas town
