CAPTIVE AUDIENCE
Former Governor Hunt of Wyoming once told this story about himself. He was visiting the Wyoming State Penitentiary one day, and when the prisoners assembled for the evening meal, the warden unexpectedly asked him to make a few remarks. Without thinking, he began, “Fellow citizens . . .” The smiles from the inmates suggested that he had gotten it wrong- -as convicts, they had lost their citizenship. The governor tried again: “Fellow convicts . . .” This was worse. As a last resort, the governor explained hastily, “Well, men, I don’t know what to call you, but I am certainly glad to see so many of you here.”
