PURPOSE OF TRANSLATORS
Max Lucado tells of the primary task of the translator, not to add or subtract from what the speaker says, but to convey the meaning to the listeners. The translator does his best to allow the words and message of the speaker to flow through himself with the same inflections and volumes and gestures. As Jesus walked with us on earth, his task was to translate God all the while, not to add or subtract from what God had to say, but to convey the message of God, through his inflections, volume of voice, and his gestures. His task was to allow the message of God’s love and forgiveness to flow through himself to us. Adapted from Just Like Jesus, by Max Lucado
