WHITE AND CLEAN WOOL
An evangelist on a speaking tour in a foreign country observed a woman washing wool in a stream. She placed it in a sieve and repeatedly dipped it into the water, and soon the wool became white and clean. Introducing himself, he asked the woman if she knew who he was. “Yes, sir,” she replied. “I thank God for the blessing I received from your preaching.” “I’m glad to know that,” said the evangelist. “Please tell me what Scripture text I used the night you came to the meeting.” “I can’t recall. I’m so poor at remembering.” “How could the message have done you so much good if you don’t even know what it as about?” he inquired. The woman looked up and said with a smile, “Sir, my mind is like this sieve. The sieve does not hold the water; but as the water runs through, it cleanses the wool.
