PRAYER OR SWEAR
A nun was stranded on the side of the road trying to change her flat tire with a jack that did not fit the car correctly. A motorist saw her distress and decided that he would stop and help. He tried to position the jack, but as he tried to lift the car, it slipped–and he swore. The nun was appreciative of his efforts on her behalf, but was concerned about his loss of self-control and his subsequent swearing, and she told him so. The man apologized and tried again. The jack again slipped, and the man swore once more. The nun told the man that if he had to swear, it would be better not to even help her.
