AAHH, DAD!
The piercing public address loudspeaker resounded throughout the football stadium: Number 21, Pat Simmons and his father, Mark Simmons. Number 66, Mike Garner and his father, Theodore Garner. Toby lingered at line’s end, looking for his father. It was Dad’s Night at the final Friday football game. Some of the dads had already been introduced and were walking across the field with their sons, others were being announced, and a few were waiting to make the walk. Everyone else had their dad (or brother or uncle) present for this annual fall festive event. All except Toby. Toby had been playing football for four years, and his father never once made the walk with his son across the football field.
