EXCUSES DON’T FLY
A psychologist I became acquainted with told me he was a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. The aviation company to which he was assigned was commanded by a strict officer. The commander wanted everyone to do all things correctly and make no excuses. In the company area he erected a large billboard on which his philosophy was clearly written: “The maximum effective range of an excuse is Zero Millimeters.” In other words excuses will get you nowhere. Perhaps he does exaggerate, but in reality the best way to live is to take responsibility rather than make excuses.
