A THANKSGIVING MONTH GAME
A personal story by Rev. William Stidger I have a little game I like to play with my friends every November as we approach Thanksgiving time. I write at least one of what I call “Thanksgiving letters” every day in November. I write that letter to somebody to whom I am truly thankful for something he or she has contributed to my life in the past and whom I have never stopped giving thanks. Years ago I started out with my parents. I wrote them letters thanking them for all the beautiful, helpful things they had contributed to my life when I was a child, a young man, and even into middle age. Then I wrote to my closest friends, one by one. One friend had introduced me to the works of Tennyson, Browning, Dickens; another friend had spoken a wise word to me at a crucial time in my life.
