PIECE OF THE CHANNEL
A few years ago, my wife and I and another couple were on a vacation in England and Scotland. One evening we were driving along a coastal road on our way to a small village. We were riding along a body of water but were not sure whether it was the English Channel or the Falmouth Estuary, where the Spanish Armada met its demise. We were debating this in the car when just ahead we saw two women and a child walking along the sidewalk. I said to my friend, “John pull over, and I’ll ask those ladies if this is the English Channel.” I rolled down the window and asked if this was the English Channel.
