MARRIAGE CONFLICT GUIDELINES
1. Leave off with the use of “you” as much as possible. 2. Couple criticisms with solution. Condemnation without hope crushes. 3. Do not compare your mate with someone else. 4. Avoid exaggerations such as “always” and “never”. 5. Back up any accusation or statement with facts. 6. Stay in the present. Complaints over six months old should not be permitted. 7. Do not make references to relatives or in-laws. 8. Do not make references to your mate’s personal habits or appearance. 9. No dramatics please. No getting highly emotional and exploding into tears. 10. Avoid threats of separation, divorce or suicide. By Mike Jackson and other sources
