PICK A FIST
A little boy was given a coin by his mother to put in the offering plate during the worship service. She gave him strict instructions, “Don’t put it in your mouth, and don’t drop it.” Obediently, he held it tightly in his fist until the usher arrived, then he held both fists over the offering plate and said (for all around to hear) “Pick a fist!” I wonder if that’s not what we sometimes do with God. Play a game with God in our stewardship. There’s a 50/50 chance we’ll give if God comes up with the right answers to our questions. If we “win” we get to keep the money to do whatever we want with it.
