‘TWAS THE NIGHT AFTER EASTER ‘
Twas the night after Easter as I lay in my bed,
That the visions of Lent stirred in my head.
I thought of the sermons I had tried to proclaim,
And wondered if I had exalted His name.
I thought of the organ and piano so fine,
And wondered if their efforts had been worth the time.
I thought of the anthems, the hymns and the song,
And wondered if they would be silent by dawn.
I thought of communion that we had shared in together,
And wondered if we could have observed it better.
I thought of the altar guild, the ushers and others,
And wondered if we appreciate them as sisters and brothers.
I thought of the Sunday School with its array of teachers,
And wondered if they don’t accomplish more that the preachers.
I thought of the many others who behind…
