DEAD LIGHTHOUSE
Tillamook Lighthouse off the coast of Oregon is in dangerous seas and perched on a large rock with waves pounding around it all the time, is so hard to get to that it has been called :”Terrible Tilly.” Now if lighthouses have any kind of “soul,” I am sure “Terrible Tilly” is embarrassed to the max. Instead of saving lives these days and sending the message of light across the pacific, she is a “columbarium” a repository for the ashes of those who have been cremated. Their ashes are stored in niches in the tower, supposedly the higher in the tower, the “nearer my God to thee.” Our churches were designed to be lighthouses to save the lost in sin. How sad that some have become columbariums, housing the dead. Some are dead spiritually, having never had a relationship with God, and some who truly have a relationship with God are in a dead sleep, not realizing the world is going to…
