THE MAN WHO HELD THE GIRL
Along the line of the psalmist’s wisdom, when the father and mother forsake their children, the Lord will take them up. The following story–whether actual or fictitious– illustrates this assurance of God’s providence. There was an atheist couple who had a child. The couple never told their daughter anything about the Lord. One night when the little girl was five-years-old, the parents fought with each other, and the father shot his wife and then shot himself. Tragically, the little girl watched it all. After the unfortunate circumstance, the girl was sent to a foster home. The foster mother was Christian and took the child to church. On the first day of Sunday School, the foster mother told the teacher that the girl had never heard of Jesus, and to have patience with her.
