SMALL GROUPS OR CLIQUES
. . . In addition to recognizing the value of groups to reach and assimilate new members, it is important to understand that becoming a member of a small face-to-face primary group does not automatically make the newcomer gain a sense of belonging or a feeling of acceptance in that congregation. Frequently, it is necessary to make a special effort to initiate these newcomers and new groups into that tribe. The alternative is the creation of a series of semi- autonomous and competing cliques.
