FIVE ASSIMILATION QUESTIONS
The process of assimilation must answer the five basic questions of a newcomer in a positive way. 1. The assimilating church answers the question “Am I liked?” by quickly helping newcomers develop friendships within the congregation. 2. The assimilating church answers the question “Am I valuable?” by helping newcomers get involved with meaningful and identifiable tasks and roles. 3. The assimilating church answers the question “Am I accepted?” by helping newcomers belong to a small group that bonds together with Bible study, prayer, accountability, ministry, and fellowship. 4. The assimilating church answers the question “Am I challenged?” by helping newcomers identify with the vision and purpose of the church. 5. The assimilating church answers the question “Am I growing?” by helping its people in the realities of life with biblical answers that provide spiritual growth.
