ENTER THE OLD MAN
This matter of being courteous is not a modern idea either. It is as old as human relationships, as is evidenced by history. For instance: It is said that upon a certain occasion when there was a great festival going on in Athens, the seats set apart for strangers were filled with Spartan boys. Another section of the great theatre not far away was filled with Athenian youth. Suddenly from somewhere there appeared a very elderly man. Infirm and leaning on his staff, he looked all about him for a seat, but there were no seats. The Athenian youth called to him to come to their section and with great difficulty he worked his way toward them, but not one boy rose to offer him a seat.
