NO MORE NEST
In the article “Preaching Pyrotechnics” Craig Brian Larson uses an illustration from Life on Wings by Terry Fullam. This illustration is used to indicate the need to encourage growth and maturity. When it is time for the eaglets to leave the nest, the mother eagle takes a proactive role. She begins to literally disassemble the nest. By the time she is finished, the place of refuge is totally destroyed. The nest has been cast from the side of the cliff and is no more. The appearance is that the mother eagle has given up on this “nurture notion.” She has tired of her babies. She no longer cares to be their mother. The reality is that her babies are babies no more. It is time for them to take their rightful place in the world. To lift themselves from the safe nest and soar. And soar they do. From Leadership, Spring 1992
