TELLING TIME
An Air Force lieutenant with a terrible cough went to see a doctor. “This cough is serious,” diagnosed the doctor. “Do you smoke?” “No,” answered the lieutenant, “I gave smoking up.” The physician was not convinced. “When did you give it up?” The lieutenant’s response was immediate: “Nineteen fifty-nine.” “That long ago?” questioned the surprised doctor, “I don’t think that is possible.” “What’s the big deal,” asked the annoyed lieutenant as he looked at his watch. “It’s only twenty-one sixteen now.” Adapted from a submission by Jim Pearring, New Harbor Community Church, Benicia, California
