ADULTEROUS GRASSHOPPERS
After completing the study of the stages in the life of a grasshopper, one young boy submitted the following as his written assignment: “First grasshoppers are eggs. Then they get to be bigger and bigger nymphs. Then they go into adultery. He had the egg and nymph stages down pat, but his understanding of the adult stage left something to be desired.” From Eula Ewing Monroe, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Kentucky, in Teaching K-8, October, 1991
