TENDERNESS OF TOUCH
Barbara Coloroso writes: “Infants thrive on full-body massages, gentle stroking in a circular motion over their entire bodies. Toddlers and older children like having their heads, backs, arms, legs, and feet massaged. If you have a very active child who has trouble calming down at bedtime, try giving him a warm bath, gently dry his skin with a warm towel, carry him into his bed, and firmly rub the bottoms of his feet. The Chinese have known the value of foot massage since ancient times and have a proverb that the eyes are the window of the soul, but the feet are the doorway to the body. Firmly rubbing your child’s feet does two things: relaxes the child and keeps him in bed.” From Kids Are Worth It, Giving Your Child the Gift of Inner Discipline, by Barbara Coloroso, published by Somerville House, Toronto, Ontario, pp. 215-216
