HOW CLOSE CAN WE GET?
At their fiftieth anniversary, I asked my grandfather how he and my grandmother lasted fifty years. “It’s simple,” he said. “We married for keeps.” It really is that simple. Every marriage experiences tough times and struggles. Successful marriages, however, focus on growing together and learn to see the struggles as stages of growth. It all begins with a decision and a constant focus: How close can you and your spouse get in this one lifetime you’ve been given? Ask each other, “Are you willing to find out with me?” From The Absolute Quickest Way to Help Your Child Change, by Fred R. Lybrand, Jr., published by Kauffman Burgess Press, Corsicana, Texas, 1996, p. 91
