AN HISTORICAL ANALYSIS OF JESUS
Several unbelievers were sitting in a train station talking about the beautiful stories of Jesus. One said that a very moving romance could be written about Jesus. The other commented that the speaker would be the perfect person to write such a work. “Set forth the correct view of His life and character. Tear down the prevailing sentiment as to His divineness and paint Him as He was – a man among men.” The suggestion was acted upon and the book written. The man who made the suggestion was Colonel Ingersoll; the author was General Lew Wallace, and the book was Ben Hur. In the process of writing, General Wallace studied the life of Jesus and his teaching. Finally, he was convinced that Jesus was truly God and became a convert of the faith.
