COMMUNICATING UNCONCERN
A man from another country visited the United States for an extended period. While in the United States, he attended a church. During an evening fellowship service, he was introduced to the congregation. After the service, a number of people came to him and welcomed him warmly and told him they would love to have him over for dinner soon. Soon never seemed to come. He explained later that he had to adjust to the American culture and learn that many words are spoken without meaning. Adapted from Encouragement, by Larry Crabb and Dan Allender, pg. 21
