THE TALES YOUR WIFE IS TOO KIND TO TELL YOU
At First Church the Pastor was away one Sunday at a denominational meeting. He invited a friend, another pastor, to fill the pulpit. This visiting pastor arrived very shortly before the service so he went around to the door of the Pastor’s study where he was to meet the elder in charge while his wife went to the main entrance and took a seat in the last row, trying not to be conspicuous. When the service was over and she got up to leave, one of the members, recognizing her as a visitor, reached out to welcome her and said, “You’re new here, aren’t you? If you come back next week our regular pastor will be here and it will be much better.” Being a gracious woman, she did not reveal her identity, simply smiled and said, “Thank you!” Adapted from a story
