A SUNSET IS NOW SHOWING
A cartoon from the January 26, 1992 issue of the Chicago Tribune pictures a woman and her husband. She is enjoying a beautiful sunset; he is enjoying his television set. She looks at her hypnotized husband and attempts to distract him from his televised trance: “Nice Job — Thanks!” she exclaims as she claps her hands. She then turns her attention directly to her husband and appeals to him in language that he should understand: “Newin, get your nose out of that TV set and catch this gorgeous sunset! Give it a try! The special effects are spectacular! It’s free! No pay-per- view! Yeah! And no commercial interruptions! And it’s in syndication because every night we get reruns!” Sometimes all that is needed to get our message across is the ability to speak their language! Adapted by a submission from David Rushton
