GETTING CREDIT
Runa Ware tells the story about a very special crab-meat casserole she used to make and one friend always praised it to the skies whenever she served it. She had asked for the recipe, which included a number of very special ingredients and Runa was careful to give her friend very detailed instructions. Some time later she was attending a luncheon at her friend’s house and as she came in she was greeted enthusiastically with: “Runa, Guess what! I’m serving your gorgeous casserole today.” However, as they entered the room her host confided to her that she had made a few changes in the recipe. Since fresh crab meat was unavailable, she had substituted canned tuna fish. Mushroom soup had replaced the delicate white sauce (she said it was “easier”). Sherry and blanched almonds had been omitted — she added that she forgot to put them on her grocery list. Moments later, as the hostess plunged the serving spoon into the steaming…
