Once years ago in Old China a man who had never been a musician, was chosen as a flute player in the emperor’s royal orchestra. Since the pay and gratuities were excellent, the counterfeit musician his the fact that he could not play. Instead, he spent months going through the motions. Whenever the orchestra performed, he would hold the flute to his lips pretending to play. But he never dared blow even softly into the instrument for fear of revealing himself.
