STURGIS WITNESS
Sturgis, South Dakota is not without its Christian witness every year when over a third of a million bikers gather at the annual motorcycle rally in August. In 1999 one such witness was a bouncer at the One Eyed Jack Saloon who shares his faith through his tattoos such as “It’s Hell Without Jesus” and “Satan Sucks.” About his job, he says he comes to Sturgis every year to “keep the peace” (blessed are the peacemakers) by throwing a few disruptive people out of the saloon. And he adds, “Then, if I’m lucky, I get to share the Lord with ’em.” Adapted from The Denver Post, Sunday, May 21, 2000, page one of the Travel Section
