HOLIDAY RECIPE SWAP
Since the Holiday season is a time for a great deal of special cooking, I am reminded of one of my favorite stories about swapping recipes. I think there’s a parable in here on the way we pass on (or fail to pass on) the Christian life. A lady once gave rather detailed instructions to a friend who inquired about her special recipe for a crab-meat casserole. Sometime later when at a luncheon at her friend’s she was greeted with “Guess what, Runa, I’m serving your georgeous crab meat dish today.” So — she went into the luncheon, and on the way the hostess did admit that she had changed the recipe just a bit. Since fresh crab wasn’t available she had substituted canned tuna. Canned mushroom soup had replaced the delicate white sauce (she said it was “easier”).
