CONFUSION CLASS
One of our humor contest winners tells of some confirmation confusion. The children of his churches generally must attend a confirmation class before receiving communion. Most parents tend not to bring their young children to the altar during communion to receive a blessing from the minister. However, as Pastor Schmidt conveys: During one particular worship service, my wife Jennifer had a little girl helping her watch my two-year-old son Joshua. She asked the young girl if she would like to receive a blessing from the minister during communion. The girl said she would. So at the appropriate time they came forward together to receive a blessing. That was when one of this girl’s cousins nudged her father. The whole congregation heard her very serious question: “Daddy, how come Allison gets to go up to the altar during communion – after all she hasn’t been confused yet!?!”
