LOVING GOD
I spent 7 years of my life devoting the majority of my free time to playing the saxophone. I didn’t do that because I was musically talented. I didn’t do that because I loved the saxophone or even because I loved music. I did that because I knew that my father, who died when I was 6 years old, loved music. I can still remember the day when I brought home the band sign-up sheet in 5th grade. It had a list of all the different instruments you could play and I can still recall looking at the sheet and not having any idea which one to choose. My only interest was based on the fact that my father, who had died 4 years earlier, loved music. So I asked my mother, “Mom, what was Dad’s favorite instrument?” “Saxophone,” she replied.
