KOINONITIS
At its worst, the desire to preserve accustomed patterns of Christian fellowship can actually repel strangers. I look at this as a disease and call it “koinonitis,” derived from the biblical word for fellowship, koinonia. It is koinonia gone bad, fellowship inflammation. Christian people get to enjoying each other’s company so much that they lose the vision for reaching the unchurched people around them. Strangers become a threat, so they are effectively excluded from the fellowship circles. Growth is not only a low priority, it is something to be avoided. From Leading Your Church to Growth, by C.
