GETTING IT RIGHT
Last summer, while on vacation, my family and I visited a state park in Minnesota that had once been a river bed. Among the interesting geographical features of the park were some sheer cliffs that were now the playground for an enthusiastic group of rock climbers. Never having seen such a thing, we watched a young woman scale the side of a cliff. Even though she seemed to be securely fastened, she kept expressing anxiety on her way up. Finally she reached the top and was then lowered back to the ground by her friend who was anchoring her line at the bottom. As she touched ground, she told her friend that she was going back up. He asked her what was wrong, and her reply was this: “I didn’t trust my knots.”
