Assurance | Authority | Grace | Leadership | Power

AUTHORITY
The more authority one has the easier it is to be gracious. The more power one has the easier it is to be kind. God is secure in HIs power, as it is abolute and immutable. We humans lack those guarantees of future security, making for the insecure tactics of tyranny lest we lose the power we have. The secure leader walks softly when carying the big stick. The bully walks loudly, to conceal the little stick he bears. The bottom line of power is that the more you have, the more you need to temper it with grace, and the easier it is to do so. R. C. Sproul, In Search of Dignity, page 213.
