SIN CANKER & CURE
In March of 1999 the State of Florida began burning more than 250 acres of commercial groves in Hendry County in order slow down an outbreak of citrus canker. Citrus canker is a type of disease that can kill as many as 250 kinds of fruit trees, but is not harmful to humans. I think of another disease called sin that is very harmful to humans. This disease leads to spiritual death and separation from God. The death and resurrection of Christ is God’s answer to our disease of sin. What we must do is make a decision to follow Jesus Christ and the eternal effects of sin will not just be slowed down, but completely erased. Adapted from USA Today, March 24, 1999, p. 23A
