RELEASED BY AESCHYLUS
The great poet Aeschylus was loved by all of ancient Athens, Greece for his poetry and sacrificial service – particularly as he had lost his arm in a battle against the Persians. The brother of Aeschylus was condemned for a criminal offense by an Athenian jury and was to be sentenced to death. At the time of the sentencing, Aeschylus stepped forward and dropped his robe from his shoulder, showing the jury the loss of his arm. This was the brother’s only defense. But it was enough! The brother was pardoned because of the sacrifice of another. We were found guilty of offense against the almighty God. Jesus stepped forward and showed his wounds. We were pardoned because of our relationship with this one! The sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the basis of our forgiveness.
